What are crypto hot wallets?
Hot wallets are software wallets that are constantly online and connected to the blockchain. They can be connected through a web browser or app. These wallets are great for convenience and are often used for quick and frequent transactions. However, they do have their downfalls, they are less secure and more vulnerable to malware. Each time you enter your seed phrase and access your wallet there is a risk that malware may be collecting that information. There are steps that can be taken in order to minimise this risk such as setting up a separate operating system as a partition on a USB drive that wipes clean each time it is disconnected for your computer or laptop as this will remove any potential malware. Doing this means you are also less likely to get malware in the first place as it is being used solely for crypto transactions and not for browsing the web. It allows you to store your crypto offline when you are not accessing it directly reducing the risk of hacking. Although this hybrid method does slightly reduce the accessibility and speed of access to your wallet, it may be worth it to increase the security of your crypto.
