Step 7.

Select “Manual backup” to access your seed phrase manually. As long as you keep a hard copy of this safe and out of reach of others this is more secure as it is not possible to hack ‘old school’ pen and paper like you can cloud storage.

Step 10.

Select “I understand” to confirm that you will store you seed phrase offline. This means that you will not screen shot your seed phrase or save it to a could or in your notes. This is important as doing so leaves you vulnerable to hacking and losing all your crypto assets in that wallet. I find it best to write down my seed phrase on pen and paper and store it somewhere very safe where it cannot be lost or accessed by others.

Step 12.

Tap on the blurred screen with the icon of the eye with a line through it to reveal your seed phrase. Write this down accurately and in order, as always, making sure you are checking the spelling as there may be variations of words which are easy to miss such as Neighbor and Neighbour. Pro tip: write these down with the corresponding number. Once you have made a note of this, select “Continue”.

Step 14.

Congratulations! You have now created your OKX wallet. At this point (before you buy or transfer any crypto into the wallet) I STRONGLY recommend logging out of the wallet, uninstalling the app, then reinstalling and logging back into the app. This ensures that not only you know how to access your crypto in the future should something happen to your device but also confirms that you have accurately noted down your seed phrase. Skipping this step could mean that you make a costly error and only find out you have made a mistake when something happens to your device or when you log out at a later date. When you try to access the assets already in the app you may find that your seed phrase is incorrect and any money in the wallet will be lost forever.
