Pizza Sats

These Sats are often wrongly referred to as Sats from the first sale using Bitcoin, the first sale was actually a jpeg (digital picture). Although the Pizza sale was not the first sale using Bitcoin, it was the first sale for physical goods specifically pizza (one for the foodies!). It is also arguably one of the most famous Bitcoin transactions. It took place on the 22nd of May 2010. A software developer called Laszlo Hanyecz purchased 2 Papa John’s pizza for price of 10,000 Bitcoin. At the time a reasonable price, approximately $41. However, today this would have been worth $630 million. I hope they were some tasty pizzas! This transaction also highlights just how quickly Bitcoin’s value skyrocketed. Sats from the Bitcoin that were transferred in order to purchase the pizzas are called Pizza Sats.
