Legacy Sats
Casey Rodarmor is a software developer who created the Ordinal Protocol. It is this protocol that gave each Sat a number based on its place in the order of Bitcoin generated. You may recognise the name from the Rodarmor Rarity Index, this is because it was this creator of the Ordinal Protocol who initially classified Sats based on their rarity. The allocation of individual numbers is what allows each individual Sat’s transaction history to be traced. It also allows for data other than transaction data to be stored on an individual Sat meaning that this data can be stored securely on the blockchain which cannot be lost or corrupted. Before releasing this software in January of 2023 Rodarmor ran a workshop on ordinals in June 2022. Each of the 41 attendees of the workshop were gifted paper wallets (a printed piece of paper with QR codes and keys that allow access to a crypto wallet) each containing 10,000 Sats, these are extra special considering the ordinal protocol hadn’t yet been released. The Sats gifted to attendees in the paper wallets are now known as Legacy Sats.
