Hitman Sats
Silk Road was an online black market that facilitated the sale of many illegal goods including drugs. It was allegedly created and run by Ross Ulbricht (username “Dread Pirate Roberts”). Understandably anonymity was of utmost importance on Silk Road. In March 2013 one user by the name of FriendlyChemist supposedly contacted Ulbricht and threatened to expose the identities of not only top Silk Road vendors, but also many of its customers if he did not receive the hundreds of thousands of dollars allegedly owed to him by another user called Lucy Drop. It is believed that Lucy Drop was a vendor that mostly sold LSD, and at the start had a good name for being a reliable supplier of quality product. However, the quality of the product supplied began to decline, as conflict gathered a new member called The Real Lucy Drop suggested that they were imprisoned and that their partner had been the reason for the decline in product quality. They also alleged that the middleman supplying them was FriendlyChemist. In order to protect his site Ulbricht allegedly attempted to hire a hitman by the username of Redandwhite and sent them 1,670 Bitcoin (roughly $150,000 at the time) to orchestrate the killing of FriendlyChemist. Although no evidence exists of a murder taking place, Sats from this transaction are called Hitman Sats.
